Summer Canning

This summer we plowed a large garden at my parents place and together my sisters family and mine put out plenty for canning and eating fresh veggies all summer. The tomatoes are ripening fast and yesterday we made three batches of salsa, canned it. Then we cooked two large batches of tomatoes soup and canned that as well. My mother has a extra kitchen in the basement and it's wonderful to create a mess and then go upstairs and feel like you took a break for one moment! My younger sister Kay is expecting her third child and she really did need a break once an hour but refused to take it. A fine back rub from mother helped her aching back which she claimed felt like a knife was stabbing. Let's hope the soup and salsa is worth it. Today my sister Kay is bring her children and coming over here to our house where we plan to can three bushels of Baby Gold peaches. That is the only peach we can. My 1/2 bushel peaches Contenders are frozen.

This year I now have frozen blueberries, peaches, peas, diced peppers, and strawberries. Canning shelves have green beans, relish (today) peaches (56 quart today), salsa, and tomato soup. We had plenty fresh cucumbers put the plants died before I canned any so maybe I will skip dill pickles this year. My husband can eat a entire pint in one serving but there are still some jars left from last year.
School open house is tonight for K and AC is excited and a bit nerves thinking of starting next Tuesday but I am sure he is one who will enjoy school once he gets used to the whole idea of not being with mommy all day. It's been rather difficult on me realizing my oldest is starting school. My husband and I were both in school of a few years then home schooled so this is even a newer idea to us. We will send him one year and see how we like it. Every morning I will drive him to school, his ride on the bus would be close to a whole hour. Driving him will take me three minutes one way. No problem there.....
Well, off I go. Got a busy day ahead!

Summer Workouts

Having searched for several years I have finally found a DVD workout that I feel comfortable with. Hip Hop Abs gives me the workout I feel I need in order to lose those 20 lbs of extra baby weight I have carried for five years now. During these workout I feel it burn most through my abs tightening and toning. After the first week of 45 minute workouts a day I lost 5lbs and quite a few inches.

Before starting with Hip Hop Abs I was working out with Walk Away The Pounds and loved it but I felt I needed more then I was getting. In a more clear note, I wasn't getting the results I wanted fast enough. I am a impatient person!

I am back this week full blast after a week of back aches from playing softball and volleyball over family camping. The scale has safely stayed back in it's corner and I am not allowing myself to get on till half the week is over simply so no discouragement hits me in waves knocking me backwards with disappointment.

Currently my daytime activities allows me my best workouts in the evening but that I really want to change as soon as possible. School starts and I feel like once AC is settled and in the groove of grade school. Maybe.
